Why do you need backup?
Backup is very important for a website. If you ever mistakenly delete your data or your website is hacked or if there is any misconfiguration with the server then you will need to restore your website file or the entire hosting. But if you didn’t take your backup that time everything is gone, that’s why backup is very essential.
You need to take backup timely. Now the question is how you will take your backup? the answer is also simple: you can take your backup from your cPanel very easily. To take a backup follow the below steps-
Taking backup from cPanel:
The backup feature of cPanel is very useful for a website. You can use a backup feature to take your full hosting backup.
cPanel Backup creates a compressed copy of your entire website or a part of your website. There are two types of Backup in your cPanel Backup.
- Full Backup
- Partial Backups
N.B: Full Backup creates a compressed copy of your entire website and It also includes all the databases, email accounts, email lists, subdomain, etc.
Full Backups cannot be possibly restored through the cPanel interface. It is only used when you are transferring your current host to the new host and ask your hosting provider to restore it.
Taking a Full backup:
To take a full backup follow the below steps-
Step-1: Login to your cPanel account.
Step 2: Open cPanel Backup by clicking the “Backup” icon from the Files section –
Step 3: After you click on the backup option you will find Full Backup as shown below −
Step 4: After you Click on the “Download A Full Account Backup” button and you will see the below screen-
In the above screen, you need to select the Backup destination, leave it as the home directory, also you need to enter the email address to receive a notification when the full backup of your website is ready to be downloaded.
Then click the “Generate Backup” button and you will see a success message of Backup in Progress.
To download the Full Website Backup, you need to come back to this page after you receive your email notification and you will see a screen similar to the one shown below.
Download your backup by clicking over the backup link.
Partial or Specific Backups
From this section, you can create and download instantly. Through Partial Backup, you can download your Home Directory, Databases, Email Forwarders, and Email Filters separately.
To use this feature Please follow the below steps:
Step 1: Open cPanel Backup by clicking “Backup” icon from the Files section-
Step 2: Scroll down and you will see the partial backup option like as below pictures (1 & 2)
You can take the Home Directory backup by clicking the “Home Directory” button & to restore your home directory, you can Upload the file in the right-hand side interface on which “Restore a Home Directory Backup” is written.
N.B: Note that you can do the same with Databases, Email Forwarders, and Email Filters. You can restore the downloaded backups any time by uploading them to cPanel using the same interface.
