Adding A Record

A record is used to point your domain or part of your domain to some specific IP address. From the DNS management section, enter the details as following:

  • Name: Enter the hostname for your domain. For example, if your domain name is example.com and you want to point server.example.com to an IP address, then you will need to enter “server” in the Name field. If you want to point the whole domain example.com to an IP, you can use the “@” symbol as the hostname. And if you want to point all possible hostnames to an IP, you can use the “*” symbol which is called a wildcard DNS entry.
  • Record Type: Select the “A” record type from the drop-down menu.
  • TTL: Here you can see 14440. Leave it like this by default. You don’t need anything to do here.
  • Value/Address: Give your IP address here where you want to point your domain. Now click on the â€œAdd Record” button and your A record will be added. You can add multiple A records if needed but there should not be any conflicting DNS record with the same hostname.

Adding “CNAME” Record

You can add the â€œCNAME” Record in a similar way.

  • Name: Alias Part of your domain name that you want to point to. For example, you might have a domain name example.com and want to point to www.example.com to ghs.google.com then you need to add “www” on the Name section to add your domain to the blogger blog.
  • Record Type: Select the CNAME record type from the drop-down menu.
  • TTL: Here you can see 14440. Leave it like this by default. You don’t need anything to do here.
  • Value/Address: Through the previous example, ghs.google.com would be the destination or address. Then click on the â€œAdd Record” button and the record will be added. You can add as many DNS zones that you require in the same way.

Adding “TXT” Record

You can add the “TXT” Record in a similar way. TXT records are somewhat like text records for domains. They are used to verify the ownership or origin of a domain.

  • Name: Most of the time, it should be your domain name, otherwise it will be provided by the provider such as Google Webmaster or mail service or wherever you are trying to verify it for.
  • Record Type: Select the TXT record type from the drop-down menu.
  • TTL: Here you can see 14440. Leave it like this by default. You don’t need anything to do here.
  • Value/Address: Copy the provided TXT record and paste it here.

Then click on the â€œAdd Records” button and the record will be added. You can add as many DNS zones that you require in the same way.

Other types of DNS records can also be added in similar ways. If you still face any issue managing the domain through the client area, feel free to let us know and we would be happy to help.
